How the firm is arranged
The partner who assesses a matter in month one is the partner who tries it in month twenty. There is no national committee to route a file through and no rate card that assumes one. That is not a philosophy, it is an arithmetic consequence of being small, and it is the reason the firm was started.
How we charge
A fee is agreed for each phase before that phase begins — assessment, pleadings, discovery, dispositive motions, trial. You are told what the next phase costs before you decide whether to take it. Most matters end before the later phases are reached, which is the point.
What we do not do
We do not do criminal work, family work, personal injury, or immigration, and we will say so on the first call rather than take the file and refer it on. Four of the six lawyers here have first-chaired a civil jury trial in Colorado. The other two are being brought up to do it.
