ServicesWhat we handle
Immigration is the only law this firm practices. Below is what that covers, what each typically costs, and roughly how long it takes.
Family-Based Petitions
U.S. citizens and lawful permanent residents can petition for certain relatives. Which relatives, how long it takes, and whether your relative can wait here or must go abroad all depend on your status and their country of birth — and those differences are enormous.
- Spouse, fiancé(e), child, parent, and sibling petitions
- Adjustment of status for relatives already in the United States
- Consular processing for relatives abroad
- I-601 and I-601A waivers for unlawful presence
- Removal of conditions on a two-year marriage-based green card
- Marriage interview preparation, including the Stokes interview
Typical fee: $1,800–$3,500 flat, plus separate government filing fees. Typical timeline: 10 months to several years, driven almost entirely by USCIS backlogs and visa bulletin priority dates rather than by us.
Green Cards & Permanent Residency
Permanent residency comes through family, employment, humanitarian categories, or the diversity lottery. Most people arrive knowing which category they think applies and are right about half the time.
- Adjustment of status (Form I-485) for applicants inside the U.S.
- Consular processing through a U.S. embassy abroad
- Employment-based residency in the EB-1, EB-2, and EB-3 categories
- Diversity visa lottery follow-through
- Green card renewal and replacement
- Interview preparation — the step most people underestimate
Typical fee: $2,200–$4,000 flat, plus government filing fees. Typical timeline: 12–24 months for most family-based adjustments.
Work Visas & Employment Immigration
We represent both workers and the employers sponsoring them. Employer-side work is a meaningful part of this practice, and Houston's energy, medical, and engineering sectors keep it steady.
- H-1B specialty occupation petitions and the annual cap lottery
- L-1 intracompany transfers
- O-1 visas for individuals with extraordinary ability
- TN status for Canadian and Mexican professionals
- PERM labour certification and employment-based residency
- Employer compliance and I-9 audits
Typical fee: $2,500–$6,000 flat depending on category, plus government filing fees. Typical timeline: 3–12 months, or weeks with premium processing where it's available.
Citizenship & Naturalization
If you've held a green card for five years — or three, if you're married to a U.S. citizen — you may be eligible to naturalize. For most people this is the most straightforward case we handle. For some it is not, and it's worth knowing which you are before filing.
- N-400 naturalization applications
- Civics and English test preparation, and medical disability exceptions
- Cases complicated by criminal history, long absences from the U.S., or missed tax filings
- Certificates of citizenship for children who derived citizenship automatically
- Applications previously denied
Typical fee: $1,200–$2,000 flat, plus government filing fees. Typical timeline: 8–14 months.
A warning worth reading twice: filing an N-400 puts your entire immigration history back in front of the government. If there is anything in your record that could raise a question, have an attorney look at it before you file — not after.
Humanitarian Relief
These are protections for people who have been harmed, threatened, or abandoned. They carry strict deadlines and heavy evidentiary requirements, and they are among the most rewarding cases this firm takes.
- Asylum applications, both affirmative and defensive
- U visas for victims of qualifying crimes who assist law enforcement
- VAWA self-petitions for abused spouses, children, and parents — filed without the abuser's knowledge or consent
- T visas for victims of human trafficking
- Special Immigrant Juvenile Status for abused, abandoned, or neglected children
- Temporary Protected Status registration and renewal
Fees are quoted case by case, and reduced-fee arrangements are available in some circumstances. Ask.
Not sure which of these applies to you?
Most people aren't, and guessing is expensive. Thirty minutes on the phone usually settles it — in English or Spanish, at no cost.
