The firm

Two attorneys, not a call centre

One of us reads your file personally before we quote you, and one of us appears with you. You will not be handed to someone you've never met on the morning of a hearing.

Sofía Alvarez

Founding Attorney

Sofía started her career as a staff attorney at a Houston legal aid organisation, where she carried a docket of removal defense and humanitarian cases for clients who had nowhere else to go. She opened this firm in 2018 to do the same work with the time and resources those cases actually require.

She handles the firm's family-based petitions, naturalization matters, and complex waiver cases, and she supervises every file that comes through the door. Her practice is conducted in English and Spanish without an interpreter.

She speaks regularly at community know-your-rights sessions across Harris County, and she'll tell you plainly that the most valuable thing she does there is talk people out of paying notarios for work only a licensed attorney can legally do.

Daniel Okonkwo

Associate Attorney

Daniel joined the firm in 2021 and carries most of its removal defense docket. He appears regularly before the Houston Immigration Court and has handled bond hearings, merits hearings, and appeals to the Board of Immigration Appeals.

He came to immigration law from the other side of it — his own family went through the process, and he has said more than once that the paperwork was the easy part compared to not knowing what was happening for months at a time. That's the reason this firm sends status updates every thirty days whether or not there's news.

He also handles the firm's employment-based work, including H-1B and TN petitions for Houston's energy and medical employers.
